• The Bengali Cultural Society (BCS) of South Jersey, is a non-profit organization created to promote cultural, religious, charitable, and educational activities to individuals from India. It was established in 1978 under the Section 501©(3) of the IRS Code. The organization’s sole purpose is to connect, celebrate and preserve the Bengali culture and their heritage.

  • Bengali Cultural Society of South Jersey’s mission is to promote, preserve, and share the rich tapestry of Bengali and Indian cultural. Fostering a sense of community and understanding among all residents of South Jersey. 

  • Bengali Cultural Society of South Jersey’s vision is to promote cultural diversity, where the children of the community can grow up proud of their Bengali heritage. BCS strives to be a bridge between generations and culture, ensuring that the timeless values and traditions of Bengal continue to enrich the multicultural fabric of America.

  • Bengali Cultural Society of South Jersey (BCS) celebrates Bengali festivals through various Pujas, traditional music and dance performances. Through these events the members of the community not only nurture cultural understanding but also reconnects to their cultural roots.

    Each year BCS hosts grand events for Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja. These festivities are not just religious observances but vibrant community gatherings that feature music, dance, theatre, and culinary delights. Our Annual Cultural Function and Annual Picnic further provide platforms for artistic expression and community bonding.

  • BCS had established a Bengali Language School where the children of the Bengali community not only learnt their mother tongue but also connected with their roots through stories, songs, and literature. BCS also offered Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) tutorials, supporting the community youth in their academic pursuits.

    BCS’s literary endeavors shine through the community magazine. It's a canvas for the community members' creativity, featuring articles, poems, and stories that reflect their experiences, thoughts, and aspirations.

  • BCS’s Planning and Development Committee worked tirelessly to envision and realize long-term goals, including the ambitious project of building a Community Center.

    In 2008 Indian Cultural Center (ICC) approached the BCS Community to team them in building a cultural center. BCS community joined ICC which is now its home for all the cultural activities. The center was opened to public in 2013. This collaboration is a symbol of our community's strength and unity.

  • Bengali Cultural Society of South Jersey actively raises funds for various charitable organizations in India, embodying the Bengali ethos of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' - the world is one family. These efforts demonstrate the cultural pride that goes hand-in-hand with global responsibility.

  • While rooted in Bengali culture, BCS warmly welcomes everyone. Their events are open to all, regardless of race, religion, or nationality. BCS community believes that by sharing the rich  culture, they  create a space for mutual understanding and respect, contributing to the beautiful diversity of South Jersey.
